Police chase on I-69 in Huntington County ends with accident on Thursday

HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) – The Huntington County Sheriff's Office says multiple agencies were involved in the police chase on I-69 in Huntington County that ended in a crash Thursday.

According to the Huntington County Sheriff's Office, the pursuit began around 1 p.m. near the 278-mile marker on I-69 and continued south to the 271-mile marker.

According to the Huntington County Sheriff's Office, the vehicle being pursued then lost control and struck the guardrail on the median of the highway, causing it to come to a stop.

At that point, according to the Huntington County Sheriff's Office, a vehicle stop was conducted during which the occupants were dragged from the vehicle at gunpoint.

The vehicle occupants suffered minor injuries during the chase and were arrested.

The Huntington County Sheriff's Office said the pursuit was the result of a drug trafficking investigation led by the Huntington County Drug Task Force.

The Huntington City Police Department, Warren Police Department, Grant County Sheriff's Office, Indiana State Police and Parkview EMS assisted the Huntington County Sheriff's Office on scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
