Olivia Nuzzi, DC correspondent for New York Magazine, placed on leave over alleged affair with RFK Jr.

New York Magazine's Washington correspondent Olivia Nuzzi has been placed on leave after allegations that she had a romantic relationship with former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. while covering his campaign.

The couple's alleged relationship began sometime after the publication of a profile written by Nuzzi about RFK Jr. in November 2023, STATUS News reported, citing sources.

Nuzzi recently came clean to the magazine's editors, admitting that she “had a personal relationship with a former subject relevant to the 2024 campaign during her coverage of the 2024 campaign. This constitutes a violation of the magazine's standards regarding conflicts of interest and disclosures,” the magazine said in a statement.

If the magazine had known about the relationship, the reporter would have been banned from covering the presidential election, according to the publication, which did not name Kennedy in its statement.

“An internal review of her published work has found no inaccuracies or evidence of bias. She is currently on leave from the journal and the journal is conducting a more thorough third-party review,” the statement continued.

“We regret this breach of trust by our readers.”

Kennedy's camp denied that the two had a relationship.

“Mr. Kennedy met Olivia Nuzzi only once in his life for an interview she requested that resulted in a defamatory article,” a spokesman said.

Kennedy was not used as a source in Nuzzi's election reporting, a source told STATUS News.

Another person familiar with the relationship told the outlet that the two likely became romantically involved around New Years.

The Post has reached out to Kennedy's team for comment.

Kennedy, 70, has been married to “Let It Go, Larry!” actress Cheryl Hines, his third wife, since 2014.

He launched his presidential campaign in April 2023 on the Democratic ticket to challenge incumbent President Joe Biden.

After failing to gain serious support at the national level, Kennedy suspended his candidacy for the White House as an independent last month, less than 24 hours after the end of the Democratic National Convention.

He then supported former President Donald Trump.
