Ian Asmundson arrested for elder abuse in Winters

Ian Asmundson is accused of aggravated robbery, assault and elder abuse.

WINTERS, Calif. – A man has been arrested for allegedly robbing and assaulting his mother in their Winters home.

According to Winters police, 36-year-old Ian Asmundson stole his mother's purse from her bedroom while looking for money.

According to police reports, when his mother confronted him about the purse, he pushed her, hit her, and slammed her head against the wall. He also took away her cell phone to prevent her from calling 911.

The 71-year-old woman came to the emergency room with abrasions all over her body. She told the medical staff what had happened, and they then called the police.

Police obtained a search warrant and arrested Asmundson. He was taken to the Yolo County Jail.

Asmundson is charged with multiple felonies, including robbery, assault and elder abuse, as well as misdemeanor charges of preventing his mother from calling 911 and stealing an access card.
