Trader Joe's Viral $2.99 Mini Tote Bags Are Back in Limited Quantity

They wouldn't trade them for anything in the world.

Trader Joe's is bringing back its popular miniature tote bags in a limited edition – and is causing lines outside the doors in stores across the country, including here in New York.

The bite-sized bags, measuring 13 x 11 x 6 inches (33 x 28 x 15 cm) and featuring red, blue, green and yellow decorations, cost $2.99. When they last hit the market earlier this year, they were reselling online for hundreds.

According to an amateur sleuth on X, the cute tote bags are currently selling online for up to $146 per set of four.

A company spokesperson told USA Today that the bags were re-released on Wednesday and remain “a limited-edition product at this time – not a product for everyday use.”

At a Chelsea branch of the cult-favorite grocery chain, a video posted on TikTok by @emilyfrbyzq showed the line stretching around a block before 8 a.m.

The scene at a Trader Joe's in San Francisco rivaled most Black Friday deals, and a long line was also seen in Irvine, California, according to videos posted on X.

And it seems like people are just happy to have a chance at screen fame – despite the long wait.

Social media site X was abuzz with news of the bags' return.

“I hope I can get a shopping bag,” one person posted during the excruciating wait. “Trader Joe's, please make these mini shopping bags a permanent thing.”

Another user posted a photo of the product still packaged on a loading pallet with the caption, “Trader Joe's mini tote bags are back and I fear for my safety.”

Other passersby and shoppers who had inadvertently gotten caught up in the chaos also did not seem to share the thrill of those in line, as numerous comments left on the site show.

“These people who are here for a damn Trader Joe's bag are ridiculous! It's a damn shopping bag for god's sake!” one wrote.

“I walked into Trader Joe's not knowing they literally released a new tote bag today and saw a white woman war zone,” another user joked.
