Evacuation orders and warnings lifted after incident involving dangerous gases and odors in Ventura

VENTURA, Calif. – Evacuation orders have been issued for all of Bayshore Avenue south of Coral Street and Seahorse Avenue west of Seaview Avenue due to an unknown gas and odor associated with a sewer line near the Pierpont neighborhood in Ventura.

As of 6:00 p.m., all evacuation orders and shelter-in-place orders related to this incident have been lifted.

A temporary evacuation point has been set up in the lower parking lot of Ventura College at 4667 Telegraph Road in Ventura.

Additionally, evacuation warnings have been issued for residents of Pierpont Boulevard between Greenock Lane and Seaward Avenue and Harbor Boulevard, and a curfew is in effect for the area west of Pierpont Boulevard, south of San Pedro Street and north of Greenock Lane.

In connection with this incident, several road closures were also implemented. These are listed below:

  • Pierpont Boulevard from Seaward Avenue to Greenock. (Parents at Pierpont Elementary are allowed to pass through to pick up their children.)
  • Peninsula Street from Seahorse to Pierpont Boulevard
  • Bayshore Avenue north of Peninsula Street and south of Coral Street
  • Clearview Avenue north of Peninsula Street
