Man charged with road rage in which he shot and stabbed a co-worker in Macomb County

According to officials, 47-year-old Lequan Denelle Brown of Detroit has been charged with shooting and stabbing his colleague in Macomb County during a road rage incident.

The alleged incident occurred on Friday (September 13) when Brown and his co-worker left work in separate vehicles and were traveling near Van Dyke Avenue and I-696.

According to court documents, Brown shot multiple times at the victim's vehicle. Later that day, both men returned to work and Brown attacked the man with a knife.

The colleague suffered severe cuts, but is stable and has already been able to leave the hospital.

Brown was charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder, life felony counts, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, a five-year felony, a serious weapons offense and a two-year mandatory felony. He is charged as a third-time offender.

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, Brown was arraigned in 37th District Court in Warren, where bail was set at $500,000 cash/surety.

If released, he will be required to wear a GPS bracelet and have no contact with witnesses. Brown was also referred for a psychiatric evaluation.

A hearing to determine reasonable suspicion is scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 8:45 a.m. and a preliminary examination is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
