Teaser for season 2 of “The Last Airbender” reveals Toph actor

Do you feel the earth shaking beneath your feet? Because Team Avatar has found its earthbender.

Netflix has some exciting Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 news revealed Thursday at the streamer's Geeked Week fan event in Atlanta: Miya Cech joins the cast as Toph, the popular character from Nickelodeon's animated series and a highly anticipated addition to the live-action show.

In the cartoon, Toph Beifong was introduced as a blind earthbender who could navigate the world around her by sensing the vibrations of the earth. Although she looked like a young girl from a wealthy family, she was secretly the most skilled earthbender of her generation and later invented the ability of metalbending.

Netflix also confirmed that filming for Season 2 has officially begun and that Toph will be a key character in the Avatar The story follows, as Gordon Cormier's Aang needs someone to teach him earthbending properly. A teaser video offers a brief glimpse of the live-action figure's feet gliding across the earth before slamming his foot into the ground to summon the element.

Cech now joins Cormier, Kiawentiio (waterbender Katara), Ian Ousley (Katara's brother Sokka), Dallas Liu (exiled Fire Nation prince Zuko), Elizabeth Yu (Fire Nation princess Azula), Daniel Dae Kim (Fire Lord Ozai), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Zuko's uncle Iroh), and others.

After Season 2 premiered in February, Netflix renewed the series for two more seasons to bring the adaptation to a fitting conclusion—though Albert Kim, who helmed the first season, will not return to his lead role for those final two seasons. Co-executive producers Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani now serve jointly as showrunners.

Kim said previously Weekly entertainment There will be a time jump between seasons 1 and 2 to accommodate the aging of the young actors in real time. A post-credits scene for the season finale also mentioned Sozin's Comet, a major plot point in the animated series.
