Authorities investigate drowning after boating accident on Lake Pioneer

(Pioneer, OH) – The Village Reporter has contacted the Pioneer Police Department and the Williams County Sheriff's Department. No calls have been returned at the time of this writing. However, a brief press release has been received from the Pioneer Police Department, which reads as follows:

“On the evening of September 18, 2024, Pioneer Police responded to a suspected drowning at Lake Pioneer off Lakeshore Drive.”

“Upon arrival, this was confirmed by contact with a male subject who confirmed there had been a boating accident involving someone drowning. This incident remains under investigation.”

Search and rescue operations continued throughout the night and into the late hours of Thursday, September 19.^thRescue units searched the lake with rescue equipment.

Pioneer Meat Market provided free lunch to search and rescue team members.
