Harrington man arrested after search warrant for weapons and drug charges | Latest News

HARRINGTON, DE – Authorities have arrested a man following a drug trafficking investigation.

Arrests by Delaware State Police 33 years old John Cox on September 18. MMembers of the Kent County Governor's Task Force and the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team executed a search warrant on a home in the 400 block of Jackson Ditch Road in Harrington. State police say the search warrant was obtained following an investigation into Cox and drug trafficking on the property. Cox was reportedly taken into custody without incident.

During the search of the property the following items were found:

  • Approximately 13.58 grams of methamphetamine
  • Naloxone strips
  • 12-gauge shotgun
  • 12-caliber shotgun ammunition
  • Digital scale
  • Drug paraphernalia

Cox was transported to Squad 3 where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace of Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $14,000 bail.

  • Possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited from possessing it and who also possesses a controlled substance (felony)
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited from possessing it (felony) – 2 counts
  • Possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute (felony)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance, Level 2 (Felony)
  • Possession of a controlled substance without a prescription
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
