The northbound lanes of Route 220 from Pine Creek to Jersey Shore were closed for about two hours, according to Lycoming Regional Police, after a three-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon involving a Lock Haven ambulance en route to UPMC Williamsport with a patient. The patient in the ambulance, who was safely secured with straps on a stretcher, did not appear to be injured, police said. However, a woman driving a Ford SUV involved in the 3:30 p.m. crash was injured and taken by ambulance to an area hospital, police said. Her vehicle was wrecked. Police said a truck was reportedly parked in the right northbound lane when the northbound SUV suddenly struck one of the truck's tires, was thrown into the air, spun and crashed into the front of the Lock Haven ambulance, which was performing a routine patient transport from UPMC Lock Haven, meaning its warning lights and siren were not activated at the time. A second ambulance was rushed to the scene to take the patient to the hospital, police said. All three vehicles had to be towed.
