New Jersey Weather: Light rain today. Updated weekend forecast as fall approaches.

Most parts of New Jersey saw little to no rain on Wednesday, and while there is a slight chance of precipitation over the next three days, most of the state is expected to remain dry.

The greatest chance of light showers will also be in areas along the New Jersey coast on Thursday, although forecasters say drizzle cannot be completely ruled out as far west as the Interstate 95 corridor.

Cloudy skies are expected in the eastern half of the state, with partly to mostly sunny skies in the western half. Afternoon highs will rise to 25 to 27 degrees Celsius. Nighttime lows will fall to 15 to 15 degrees Celsius, with isolated fog possible.

A low pressure area far off the coast will ensure a cloudy day on Friday with a low probability of rain in the coastal areas and maximum temperatures mostly around 25 degrees Celsius.

Saturday and Sunday look pretty good with sunny skies and highs around 21 degrees. The chance of isolated, light rain along the New Jersey coast is “low,” the National Weather Service said. Fall begins at 8:43 a.m. on Sunday.

Normal temperatures at this time of year are between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.

A coastal flood warning remains in effect until 3 p.m. Friday for Atlantic, Southeastern Burlington, Cape May, Cumberland, Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean counties. There is also a high risk of rip currents on ocean beaches Friday morning through Friday evening.

On Wednesday, the Community Collaborative Rain Hail & Snow Network reported that two towns in Cape May County – Lower Township and Wildwood Crest – received just over half an inch of rain. Other parts of South Jersey recorded rainfall ranging from a few hundredths to less than two-tenths of an inch.
