CLEARFIELD, Pa. (GANT) – A Hyde man accused of participating in a conspiracy to assault and rob a man pleaded guilty Monday.

The charges stem from an incident on Oct. 6 at a residence on Powell Avenue in Hyde in which the man was attacked, police said.

One of the defendants reportedly admitted that they targeted the victim because they knew he had drugs on him. One of the suspects was found to have a bag containing 21.75 grams of crystal meth.

The victim told police that he was traveling with two men and stopped at a residence in Hyde, where two other men attacked him with baseball bats.

They robbed him, forced him to remove his clothes, and ordered him to leave without his vehicle. The vehicle was later found in another location.

Taylor James Wisor, 36, pleaded guilty to criminal conspiracy/theft by unlawful taking and possession of instrumentalities before Chief Judge Fredric J. Ammerman. The judge sentenced him to 12 months to 4 years in prison and ordered him to pay more than $800 in restitution to the victim.

Wisor pleaded guilty to three additional counts of shoplifting, eluding or attempting to elude police and driving under the influence of alcohol, which earned him a total sentence of 18 months to six years in prison.

According to the affidavit in the robbery case, while investigating the incident that night, a police officer spotted Wisor and Paul Harold Hoyt, 35, of Curwensville, who was wanted by the state parole board, in Wisor's vehicle as it entered the Hyde Car Wash and stopped in a manual car wash. Hoyt was in the passenger seat.

Wisor consented to a search of his vehicle, during which police found a wooden bat on the floor of the back seat. They also found the victim's cell phone and phone case. Hoyt had a knife, a saw and an ounce of methamphetamine.

The victim's truck was driven by Hoyt to Mann Road and parked there, Wisor told investigators.

In August, Hoyt was sentenced to six months to two years in prison for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, criminal damage, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hoyt also pleaded guilty to two additional counts of minor possession of a controlled substance, for which he was sentenced to an additional three months to one year in prison.

In July, John L. Irwin, 40, of DuBois, one of the two defendants charged with actually attacking the victim with baseball bats, also pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three to six years in prison. He was charged with conspiracy/theft by unauthorized taking and theft by unauthorized taking, false imprisonment, terroristic threats and possession of instrumentalities.

The other man charged in the attack is 44-year-old Jason Roy Sipe of Hyde. Sentencing is scheduled for October.

Sentencing was scheduled for Wednesday for Bradley Alan Maines, 47, of Woodland, who was also charged in the incident, but First Assistant District Attorney F. Cortez “Chip” Bell pointed out that charges against him were dropped because Maines was not directly involved in the assault or robbery.
