Brawl at Third Avenue Package Store led to shooting overnight that left a Bessemer man dead, police said

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WBRC) – Birmingham police are investigating a fight that turned deadly early Friday morning.

West Precinct officers responded to a call that a person had been shot at the Third Avenue Package Store in the 1500 block of 3rd Avenue West in Birmingham.

When officers arrived at the scene, they entered the store and found an unconscious man lying on the floor with a gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and EMS arrived and transported the victim, identified as 37-year-old Tremayne Javahn Long of Bessemer, to UAB Hospital where he died.

According to police, initial investigations indicate that Long was involved in a physical altercation with another man. During the altercation, the man shot Long.

There is currently no one in custody.
