Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge is cordoned off while police search the building

WHEAT RIDGE, Colorado – Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital remains on lockdown while police investigate a report that a man “entered the building with a holstered handgun.”

According to Wheat Ridge police, there is no active shooter involved, but the hospital has been secured as police search it.

“This is a large building and the search will take a long time,” police said on social media.

A hospital spokesperson told Denver7 that Wheat Ridge police were combing the entire site and the lockdown would remain in effect until that work was completed.

According to the spokesperson, the emergency room remains open and is accepting patients.
