Man again accused of possessing child sexual abuse material

JONESBORO, Arkansas (KAIT) – One year after his arrest for possession of child sexual abuse material, police have arrested a Jonesboro man on the exact same charge.

Craighead County District Court Judge Tommy Fowler found on Friday, September 20, that there was probable cause to charge 32-year-old Cortez Demond Borders with possession and use of child sexual abuse material (a Class B felony) and obscene films (a Class D felony).

On Thursday, September 19, a woman reported to police that Borders had sent her “obscene videos” of his private body parts and that he masturbated to pictures of little girls.

“She also presented messages in which Borders [asked] whether she has little girls or nieces,” Jonesboro police said in a press release.

After obtaining an arrest warrant, officers arrested Borders and took him to the Craighead County Detention Center, where he remains incarcerated on $100,000 cash bail.

Borders' appearance in District Court on Friday comes one year to the day after his arrest on September 20, 2023, for possession of child sexual abuse material.

Borders' appearance in district court on Friday comes one year to the day after his arrest in 2023 for possession of child sexual abuse material.

According to online court documents, Borders was initially held on a $150,000 cash/bond, but in November 2023 he appealed a bail reduction and was released from CCDC custody.

His trial in the case is scheduled to begin on November 18. Trial and plea dates are scheduled for October 29 and November 6.
