Beijing woman identified as victim of fatal car crash in rural Beijing

Christie Campbell, 62, of Pekin was identified as the person killed in a two-vehicle crash in rural Pekin Thursday morning, the Tazewell County Coroner's Office announced Friday.

Authorities were notified at 9:51 a.m. Thursday of a crash at the intersection of Thompson Road and Illinois Route 29 involving a Toyota passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer with a trailer. Campbell, the sole occupant of the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:30 a.m.

The Tazewell County Coroner's Office performed an autopsy on Friday. Preliminary autopsy results show Campbell died from multiple blunt force injuries as a result of the collision.

This case remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police, the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office and the Tazewell County Coroner's Office.
