Suspect in fatal Stockton shooting arrested in Merced County

STOCKTON – A suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Stockton was arrested in Merced County, authorities said Friday.

The shooting occurred shortly after midnight on September 15 on Henry Long Boulevard.

Stockton police said officers found a 57-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Investigators eventually identified 56-year-old Tyran White as the suspected shooter. White was tracked down in the city of Los Banos on Thursday and arrested without incident.

White has since been booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on murder charges, police said.

The name of the victim has not yet been released. There is also no information about the motive for the shooting.
