School bus involved in accident when it stopped to let children off; 1 person flown to hospital, 1 other person injured – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

PREBLE COUNTY – A school bus was involved in an accident in Preble County Friday afternoon.

The accident was reported shortly before 3 p.m. in the 3300 block of US 40 and involved a National Trail Local Schools school bus.

The bus stopped with its lights on to let students off, and a white car pulled up behind them. A black car came up behind them and rammed the white car, causing it to hit the bus, according to Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson.

No student was injured in the accident.

Both drivers were taken to hospital. One was taken to Reid Hospital and the other was flown to another nearby hospital.

As shown on News Center 7 at 5:00National Trail Director Jennifer Couch was at the scene of the accident, which occurred about two miles from the school buildings.

“I'm so grateful to the community members, the parents, the people who just kindly stopped by to check on everyone and make sure everyone was OK,” Couch said. “We really appreciate that and it's always reassuring when you live in a small county and know that everyone is there to take care of everyone.”
