Montgomery Village woman found dead, boyfriend charged with murder

Montgomery County Police have arrested and charged 22-year-old tanner Luis Sanchez Centeno with the murder of his girlfriend, 18-year-old Dania Cruz-Mejia, who was found dead in her Montgomery Village home on Wednesday, September 18.

Cruz-Mejia's family found her unconscious in her home in the 18600 block of Calypso Place after becoming concerned when they hadn't heard from her. Officers from the 6th Precinct and Montgomery County Fire Department arrived around 4:20 p.m. and attempted life-saving measures, but pronounced Cruz-Mejia dead at the scene.

Authorities transferred her body to the Baltimore Coroner's Office, where an autopsy will determine the cause and manner of death.

Investigators quickly identified Sanchez Centeno as the suspect. On Thursday, September 19, they obtained a warrant for his arrest for first-degree murder. Police arrested him the following day in Prince George's County and transported him to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he remains held without bail to this day.

According to Montgomery County police, the investigation is ongoing.
