The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma sends this information as posted below:

(OKLAHOMA CITY) – September 4, 2024 – The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is encouraging all Oklahomans to take action to end hunger during Hunger Action Month in September. During the month-long campaign, the Regional Food Bank works with members of the Feeding America network to raise awareness and inspire action to end hunger. Every action counts, whether you donate, advocate for hunger, volunteer, or spread the word online.

“As one of the most hungry states in the world, no action is too big or too small for us,” said Stacy Dykstra, executive director of the Regional Food Bank. “Just take action. Whether it's wearing orange to raise awareness, starting a food or donation drive, or joining us for a volunteer shift.”

Sign up for a volunteer shift at the Regional Food Bank at rfbo.org/volunteer or organize a food and fundraiser in your community at rfbo.org/foodandfunds. Throughout the month, the Regional Food Bank is encouraging everyone to get involved in a variety of activities to raise awareness about hunger in the state:

10 September: Hunger Action Day! – Wear orange to raise awareness of hunger in Oklahoma. Post a photo of yourself in orange and share why you're committed to fighting hunger. Don't forget to tag the Regional Food Bank in your post and use the hashtag #HungerActionMonth24. The Regional Food Bank is also encouraging Oklahomans to light their homes and businesses orange on September 10th! The City of Oklahoma City's Skydance Bridge will be lit orange on the evening of September 10th in recognition of Hunger Action Day.

15 – 21 September: Voter Registration Week – National Voter Registration Day is September 17. Encourage your friends and neighbors to register to vote. For more information about voting in Oklahoma, visit ok.gov/election.

Those unable to attend a Hunger Action Month event can help fight hunger by donating to the Regional Food Bank. Through Sept. 30, every donation to the Regional Food Bank's Food for Kids programs will be matched, up to $315,000, thanks to the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma, Chesapeake Energy, Mark and Beth Brewer, Marathon Oil, Dolese Bros. Corp., Energy Transfer, David Gorham and David and Lezlie Hudiburg. Donate at foodforkids.us.
