Emma Raducanu beats Yue Yuan and reaches the quarterfinals of the Korea Open

Britain’s Emma Raducanu advanced to the quarterfinals of the Korea Open by defeating China’s Yue Yuan in straight sets.

The 21-year-old Raducanu took control of the match by winning six games in a row, winning the first set and then taking control of the second set.

The 2021 US Open champion, ranked 70th in the world, finally used her seventh match point to win 6-4, 6-3 and reach the quarterfinals in Seoul.

Raducanu will play Daria Kasatkina on Saturday, with the semifinals also taking place later that day after rain postponed Friday's matches.

Russian number one Kasatkina, number 13 in the world, defeated American Hailey Baptiste 6-4, 6-2.

“I think these dishes fit [Kasatkina] because they jump quite a lot,” said Raducanu.

“But for me it is invaluable every time I face such a high-class opponent. It gives me confidence. It is a game in which I actually have nothing to lose.”
