Memorial ride in Claremore for man killed in motorcycle crash in Tulsa | News

CLAREMORE, Oklahoma – A memorial ride was held in Claremore on Friday to honor Alexandre Escobar, who died in a motorcycle accident in Tulsa on Sept. 15.

The riders met Friday at the Route 66 Sports Bar in Claremore, which was a favorite hangout for Alex, according to a ride organizer.

Jake Browne, who led the memorial ride for Alex, is also an advocate for motorcycle safety.

“We have to be very conscious of this, it is an epidemic. In fact, about 20 minutes ago, I was almost hit head-on as I was looking for the event tonight,” Browne said.

Browne said he lost eight people he knew during the final year of his campaign.

“I'm taking part in three memorial rides this weekend for the people who died in the last month. Two of them left behind very young children,” Browne said.

He said if he could make anyone understand anything, it would be this: looking for five seconds can save someone's life.

Browne described Alex as an avid motorcyclist who loved his bike.

“He loved that bike. I would see him at least two or three times a day riding through town as I passed by. We would always wave,” Browne said.

FOX23 also spoke to Alex's sister, Lillian Escobar, who said he meant everything to her.

“Being here, meeting all his friends and seeing all his favorite places makes me feel really close to him,” Lillian said.

Lillian said he was a very talented mechanic and loved working on bikes.

She wore his favorite shirt on the memorial ride and recalled some of her fondest memories with her brother.

“If I could go back and relive those moments, I would do anything,” Lillian said.

She thanked everyone who helped organize the trip for being there for her family.

“I just want to say a big thank you to everyone involved. You helped us, gave us your love and care. Above all, for loving Alex so much and giving him some of the best years of his life,” said Lillian.

The large turnout for the ride demonstrated the impact Alex had on those around him and the camaraderie of the motorcycle community.

“As motorcyclists, we are all brothers. We all love and care for each other and want everyone to get home safely,” Browne said.

To support Alex's family during this time, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up, which you can find here.
