Suspect arrested in murder of pregnant Omaha woman

OMAHA, Nebraska (WOWT) – Charges have been filed against a suspect in the 2023 murder of Lezah Lewis, Omaha police said Friday.

Christopher Grutel, 23, was arrested Thursday at Douglas County Corrections. He is charged with first-degree murder, murder of an unborn child, three counts of use of a firearm to commit a serious felony, first-degree assault, possession of a firearm by an unauthorized person and discharging a firearm at a person/vehicle.

This came after Cedrick Glover appeared in court earlier this month for the same murder case.

The other suspect, Victor Henderson, remains in custody facing other charges.

Lewis was shot and killed in a home near 24th and Locust Streets in July 2023.

She had just finished her nursing training when she was murdered. Her mother hopes that the police can find the person responsible for her murder.
