Two people arrested at middle school football game | Hartsville

Hartsville residents James H. Brewer, 34, and Jessi L. Harris, 34, were arrested on multiple charges following a disturbance at a middle school football game in Wilson County.

The incident occurred at Winfree Bryant Middle School, where Tuesday's football game against Jim B. Satterfield Middle School in Hartsville was taking place.

Brewer and Harris were taken into custody following the incident, which began as a verbal argument and escalated into a physical altercation.

As a result of an on-site investigation by police, Brewer and Harris were identified as the main perpetrators of the incident.

Following the investigation, Brewer was arrested for disturbing the peace and assault, and Harris was charged with public intoxication, disturbing the peace and assault.

Both Brewer and Harris were taken to the Wilson County Correctional Facility, where they were arrested and later released on bail.

According to the Wilson County Sheriff's Office, school security officers immediately responded to de-escalate the situation. Additionally, Wilson County Sheriff's deputies and officers from the Lebanon Police Department were dispatched to assist with crowd control.

A statement from the Wilson County Sheriff's Office said: “The Wilson County Sheriff's Office takes incidents of this nature seriously. Threatening or violent behavior, especially at family-oriented events such as school plays, will not be tolerated. We encourage all participants to behave in a respectful and considerate manner toward others. Law enforcement will continue to ensure the safety of all participants and hold accountable those who choose to engage in unlawful behavior.”
