Crash in West Babylon leaves two dead and four injured

Two people were killed and four others seriously injured in a car crash in West Babylon early Saturday morning, Suffolk County police said.

The two-car accident occurred after 1 a.m. at an intersection

One vehicle was traveling south on Great East Neck Road and the other car was traveling east on Railroad Avenue when they collided, police said.

The driver and sole occupant of one vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. A second person, who was in a car with four other people, later died in hospital.

Four people were taken to hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. Saturday, the road was still closed at the Evergreen/Great East Neck intersection just past Railroad Avenue.

And the first of two heavily damaged vehicles was towed away.
