West Haverstraw girl accused of threatening to shoot in North Rockland school district

On Thursday evening, September 19, police in the City of Haverstraw in Rockland County said they had been alerted to the potential threat of a shooting that would occur on Friday, September 20, in the North Rockland School District.

Officers and detectives immediately began investigating the claim and were able to locate the person who made the social media post.

After an investigation, it turned out that this claim was false.

Haverstraw City Police charged the 16-year-old from West Haverstraw with making terroristic threats.

She was released on presentation of a summons to be returned to the Juvenile Division of the Supreme Court.

“The Town of Haverstraw Police Department is committed to ensuring the safety of our students and staff at all of our schools, and we will continue to investigate any allegation or threat of violence with all of our power and resources,” the department said. “We also will not tolerate individuals who seek to instill fear in the community. We will charge them with all appropriate charges and ensure they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
