F1 News: BIZARRE animal incident triggers red flag at Singapore GP

A wild lizard caused a red flag at the Singapore Grand Prix when practice was interrupted by a creature affectionately nicknamed “Larry the Lizard.”

Larry decided to stroll onto the Marina Bay Circuit, which drew laughter from stars such as Daniel Ricciardo and Alex Albon.

Because the species is protected in Singapore, the session had to be halted as marshals attempted to capture Larry and safely remove him from the track.

RB star Ricciardo followed the incident via live broadcast and was stunned, but also laughed at the animal's antics.

Lizards are no strangers to the Singapore GP. Fernando Alonso was accused of killing one of these animals during FP1 last year.

The Aston Martin star was the first to notice his former nemesis and complained about the lizard stomping around in the middle of the track.

“We were told the track was clear but to look out for the lizard,” the Aston Martin team said over team radio.

“No, it’s in the middle of the track,” Alonso replied.

Ted Kravitz of Sky Sports seemed more impressed by the lizard's cheeky demeanor as it danced boldly across the track.

“It looks like it's dancing 'floss' – some kind of dance,” Kravitz noted.

The lizard was eventually rescued and FP3 continued, but there is a risk of further reptile encounters over the weekend.
