Man charged with murder of woman in New Bedford

A man is facing murder charges in connection with the stabbing attack on a woman in New Bedford.

New Bedford police responded to a report of a stabbing at 86 Atlantic Street around 4:52 p.m., the district attorney's office said.

Upon arrival, officers found 31-year-old Kerri Fidalgo suffering from stab wounds. Officers on scene began to assist Fidalgo. She was then transported to Saint Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, where she was later pronounced dead.

Tyler Dow Baglini, 31, of Dartmouth, was arrested later that evening and held overnight at Saint Luke's Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

He will be arraigned in New Bedford District Court on Monday morning.

The victim lived in an apartment at 86 Atlantic Street.
