Mansfield shooting: Suspect charged with murder of 17-year-old

MANSFIELD, Texas – Mansfield police have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a 17-year-old on Thursday.

Elijah Hatton, 21, has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting.

Police were called to a home on Cutting Horse Drive for a wellness check Thursday afternoon.

When police arrived, they found the 17-year-old with a gunshot wound and was resuscitated by citizens.

The 17-year-old was taken to hospital where he later died.

The suspect fled the scene before the police arrived.

Mansfield Police Detectives identified the suspect's vehicle and located it at an apartment complex in East Dallas.

Hatton was taken into custody by Mansfield SWAT officers.

Police have not released any information about the circumstances of the shooting.

The name of the 17-year-old was not released by police due to his age.
