Margo Price hires Billy Strings for “Too Stoned to Cry”

“I'm going to make this next album the way I want to make it, no matter what it costs,” says Price

Margo Price celebrates her return to country music with “Too Stoned to Cry,” a stunning ballad featuring Billy Strings.

The track features the two musicians trading lines, backed by Russ Pahl's beautiful pedal steel guitar. On her Substack, Price wrote, “I want to give a special thank you to everyone who played on this song – it truly feels like a homecoming to country music that feeds my soul. Billy has endured a lot in his short life and his story and dedication to the craft inspires me deeply. I may be biased, but I think this song shows how versatile Billy is as a player and singer. His voice and delivery on this track absolutely blew me away and showcases his ability to sing and play country music with the best.”

She added: “When I first came on the scene, I was a rural, hard-boiled, whiskey-drinking nobody who was mad at the establishment. All of that is still the case, except for the whiskey-drinking part. If anything, I'm more mad now that I've lived in the establishment for a while. I've let some people go, I still fight with others to let me be myself, but I know I'm going to make this next record the way I want to make it, whatever the cost.”
