The stadium on the USF campus will include an area exclusively for students

Published 18 September

If the proposal for a new stadium on the USF campus becomes a reality, the Bulls will have a loud student section with a disc jockey during the game.

Details of the student section – on the west side of the stadium – were revealed in a new rendering released by the school on Wednesday. The section will house more than 8,000 students and have its own entrance, restrooms and food facilities. Its other features include the “Iconic Bull U” logo and a podium for an in-game disc jockey.

The display came amid record demand for student tickets for Saturday's game against No. 8 Miami at Raymond James Stadium. The school reported over the weekend that nearly 15,000 student tickets – a program record – had been claimed for the game, prompting the stadium to open up one of the upper tiers to accommodate more fans.

“The passion of the student body is what makes college sports so special,” USF athletic director Michael Kelly said in a statement released by the university.

“After record student demand for the upcoming game against Miami, we are excited to offer a glimpse into the future South Florida student experience on game day. Many of the amenities on the west side of the stadium are based on student feedback and we thank them for wanting to be part of this exciting future we are creating together!”

The latest rendering also shows a field-high section on the north side of the stadium that will house the school's marching band. The south side — dubbed the home side — will have seating for season ticket holders and provide shade from the press tower during day games.

The school also announced that more renderings will be released ahead of the stadium's official groundbreaking on October 18.
