Every week throughout the season, CBS Sports' MLB experts bring you a Batting Around roundtable discussion that analyzes just about anything. The latest news, a historical question, thoughts on the future of baseball, you name it. Last week we chose between the many Jacksons in baseballThis week we're focusing on the AL wildcard race.

Which team will take the last AL wildcard spot?

RJ Anderson: I suspect the Tigers will be the popular pick here, and for good reason — you have to tip your hat to them for how well they've played since July, and it would be great to see them complete their comeback and make it to October. Still, for the sake of variety, I'm going to go with the Twins. The two teams are pretty close in season differential, but I think that might underestimate the Twins' abilities now that they have arguably their three best hitters back in the lineup — namely Royce Lewis, Byron Buxton, and Carlos Correa. Minnesota has been struggling quite a bit lately, though, so it's possible the water won't stagnate before it's too late for the Twins.

Dayn Perry: This late in the regular season, I'm inclined to be boring and pick whoever is ahead, even if it's just barely. All of that describes the Twins. They're also generally healthy right now, especially in the lineup, and neither the Tigers nor the Mariners have a head-to-head game against Minnesota yet. I'd say the Twins hold on.

Matt Snyder: My pick is the Tigers. They have three games left against the White Sox to end the season and I think we can expect them to win. If that's the case, I'm confident the Tigers will outscore the Twins for the rest of the game considering how both teams have played over the last month.

Mike Axisa: As bad as they have played in recent weeksI'm staying with the Twins. They have the tiebreaker against the Tigersso Detroit needs to finish ahead of them, not just catch them. That raises the difficulty level a little bit. Overall though, I think the Twins are the better and more talented team, even if it hasn't shown on the field lately. It feels like this run is coming a little late for Detroit. It's still fun though and I'm glad they're giving us a run. It didn't take long before it looked like the six AL postseason teams were set. Now we have some real competition late in the season.
