Michigan had an impressive first half

With a 14-3 lead over USC at halftime, with the offense more similar to the hard, varied rushing attacks of recent times, Michigan and head coach Sherron Moore couldn't help but be satisfied.

Especially after the offense had sunk into the mud for the first three weeks. After running almost 200 yards and Alex Orji Moore, who was starting quarterback for the first time, gave the CBS sideline reporter a positive assessment of the first half Jenny Dell.

“The O-line does a damn good job after the football, the running backs run fast, run downhill,” Moore said, “the perimeter players block. Everyone is in sync in the running game, but we also have to keep balance in the passing game.”

Both of Michigan’s touchdowns were scored by long runs, one of them by Kalel Mullings and then Donovan EdwardsAt halftime, they had 72 and 65 rushing yards respectively, and Orji added 47 yards himself on seven carries.

And Michigan's 199 rushing yards in the first half are the most USC has had in a first half under Lincoln Rileyaccording to ESPN Stats and Info.

Orji was still mediocre as a passer, and Michigan allowed him to make a few layups on swings and blocks. But he still struggled to show much feeling and focus on deep throws. All in all, Orji finished the first half with 4 of 7 passes for 21 yards.

“I just want to see him be himself. Make the throws he needs to make, don't force anything and play Michigan football,” Moore said.
