A man is accused of stabbing his neighbor to death and then raping the victim's wife and daughter in a “cruel” attack.

Timothy Ernest Legard, 50, is now facing 11 charges, including first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping and first-degree sexual abuse.

According to Fox 2 Detroit, Legard was a neighbor of the unidentified victims in Pontiac, Michigan. Police say Legard went to the house around 6 a.m. on Sept. 18 and met the man as he was helping his daughter get ready for school.

Legard then stabbed the victim. According to the report, the suspect entered the man's home, where he sexually assaulted both his wife and daughter.

The two victims escaped the house and ran to another house to call 911.

When police arrived, they found the man dead in the driveway with a stab wound to the chest. Officers found Legard walking nearby and arrested him.

No motive has been disclosed in this case.

“This is going to leave a lifetime of psychological scars,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said, according to Fox 2. “I don't know how you get over an attack like this, this kind of absolute victimization of these two completely innocent people.”

Legard will be held in prison pending arraignment.

“This was an absolutely brutal and cruel attack on a family,” said Oakland County District Attorney Karen McDonald. “First-degree murder, first-degree sexual abuse and kidnapping are crimes punishable by life in prison, and these are the most serious charges my office is bringing.”
