Person shot after argument in MATA bus

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (WMC) – Someone was shot on a MATA bus Saturday night.

Police were called to the scene at Frayser Road and Calvary Creek around 7:30 p.m.

The shooting was triggered by an argument between two passengers.

After the argument, the suspected shooter was dragged out of the bus and a shot was fired at the bus.

The victim suffered graze wounds and was taken to hospital in non-life-threatening condition.

The suspect fled in an unknown direction.

MATA issued the following statement on the shooting:

“We are deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident that occurred on one of our buses this evening and our thoughts are with the individual and their family. Our primary concern is the safety and wellbeing of our passengers and staff and we are cooperating fully with local authorities in their investigations.”
