Several Oak Lawn High School cheerleaders attacked during a fight at halftime of a football game: Superintendent

According to district authorities, several Oak Lawn Community High School cheerleaders were attacked during a football game at Richards High School.

The incident occurred during half-time and was the result of a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation.

According to Superintendent Dr. Shahe Bagdasarian, the argument was initiated by a person who is not a student of the high school.

Oak Lawn police intervened and removed everyone involved in the fight.

Superintendent Bagdasarian stated in a letter to the district's families that “numerous students and parents were excluded from the game.” He stressed that “at no time were weapons involved and there were no major injuries, contrary to some reports on social media.”

“It is critical for all of us to remain vigilant and proactive and to foster a culture of respect and sportsmanship. As discussions arise about this incident, I encourage you to talk to your students about the importance of resolving conflict constructively and understanding the impact of their actions on our community,” Bagdasarian added in the letter.
