Louisiana State Police officer arrested and charged with assault after brawl at LSU football game

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (BRPROUD) – An off-duty Louisiana State Police trooper was arrested following a physical altercation at the LSU vs. UCLA football game on Saturday, September 21.

Artellus Bellard, 30, of Lake Charles was arrested and charged with two counts of assault. State police say Bellard was released on a summons pending a court date.

During the LSU-UCLA football game, police officers responded to a disturbance in the stands and found that a physical altercation had occurred between Bellard and two male individuals.

State police said Bellard, who has been assigned to Troop D patrol since 2021, resorted to assault following a verbal argument.
