Arrest for murder after man injured in alley

A man has been arrested following the death of a man police found in an alley on Thursday.

Sheldon Jameson, 42, died in hospital after being found injured in the Hyde Park area of ​​Doncaster, South Yorkshire Police said.

Officials said a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

A 47-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting the crime, but she was released on bail pending the outcome of the investigation, police added.

Mr Jameson was found between Apley Road and Whitburn Road at around 05:30 BST on Thursday.

He was taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards. His family was informed.

A police spokesman urged anyone with information to contact police.
