Lansing Street stabbing investigated by Utica police


Utica, NY – At approximately 7:50 p.m., Utica Police and Fire Department units were dispatched to the 300 block of Lansing Street for a reported stabbing incident.

Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered a victim with multiple stab wounds. The victim was taken to Wynn Hospital, where all attempts to save his life were unsuccessful and he succumbed to his injuries.

Crime Scene Investigators are currently on scene processing evidence. The case has been referred to the Major Crimes Unit for further investigation.

  • Perth Amboy Man Charged in Fatal Stabbing of Wife

    PERTH AMBOY, NJ – Authorities announced a fatal stabbing incident in Perth Amboy that resulted in the death of 40-year-old Rosana Rodriguez and subsequently led to charges against her husband, Wellinton Leonardo.

    Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Perth Amboy Police Chief Lawrence Cattano confirmed the charges against Leonardo. At around 2:57 a.m. Thursday, a 911 call reported a stabbing on Bertrand Avenue. Officers found both Rodriguez and Leonardo lying on the kitchen floor.

    Rodriguez was taken to Hackensack Meridian Hospital Raritan Bay Medical Center, where she later died. Leonardo was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment.

    An investigation led by Detective Danny Hernandez of the Perth Amboy Police Department and Detective Michelle Coppola of the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office determined that this was not a random act. It was confirmed that Rodriguez and Leonardo were married. As a result, Leonardo is charged with premeditated murder, several weapons offenses, and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child because children were present during the incident.

  • Several arrests by Cinnaminson Township police

    Cinnaminson, NJ – The Cinnaminson Township Police Department recently made several arrests in connection with a series of thefts and drug incidents.

    On August 5, Officer Dominic Elly responded to a theft report at Precision Automation Company. Investigation revealed that copper and two complete commercial air conditioning units were stolen, causing an estimated $30,000 in damage. Video surveillance was used to identify a suspect who admitted to the theft during an interview conducted by Officer Elly and Officer Adam Somers and was subsequently charged. The suspect has also been involved in similar crimes in nearby communities.

    On August 28, at approximately 1:43 a.m., Lt. Michael Curran observed illegal activity near the Pilot Truck Stop on Union Landing Road. He witnessed two individuals robbing a refrigerated trailer and attempting to flee. One of the suspects was arrested after a short chase after he confessed to attempting to steal $8,400 worth of frozen seafood. The suspect was charged and taken to the Burlington County Jail.
