Section of I-10 closed due to fatal motorcycle accident; impairment suspected

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – A section of a busy highway was closed after one person was killed in an accident involving a motorcyclist early Sunday morning.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-10 near 39th Avenue. Details are not yet available, but police confirm that at least one person died. No information is available on other injuries.

A motorcyclist was involved in the accident, but DPS is still trying to determine the exact number of vehicles damaged. Troopers confirm that impairment is being investigated as a cause of the accident.
