Dominican citizen extradited to the USA for heroin trafficking

Santo Domingo – Dominican authorities, through the Attorney General's Office and the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), with the assistance of the US Marshals Service, have extradited a Dominican national accused of international drug trafficking in the United States.
José Heriberto Vinicio de Jesús was handed over to the US authorities at Punta Cana International Airport by Decree 473-24, who ordered his extradition.

The Dominican, who was already under guard by officials of that country, boarded a plane to the United States, which is demanding that he appear before a court in the District of Arizona on charges of trafficking heroin and methamphetamine.

“Vinicio de Jesus is accused of criminal organization for distributing and possessing one kilogram of a mixture or substance containing heroin and 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.”

The extraditee was arrested in July 2024 when he entered the country from Colombia through the International Airport of the Americas, José Francisco Pena Gómez.

The extradition of the person subject to extradition from the Dominican Republic is part of the strengthening of the Dominican Republic's cooperation with allied countries in the fight against drug trafficking, money laundering and transnational organized crime.
