Reports: Jordan Love likely won't play against Tennessee Titans

According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Green Bay Packers expect backup quarterback Malik Willis to face his former team – the Tennessee Titans – as their starter Jordan Love is still recovering from an MCL injury in his knee. Love was officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game by the team on Friday when they had to file a final injury report after a week of practice.

Love was injured in the Packers' Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and did not practice with the team in Week 2. Despite this, Green Bay had listed Love as questionable last Friday, but on Saturday before the game against the Indianapolis Colts, Love was downgraded to doubtful. Love was ultimately inactive for the game, leading to Willis' first start with the Packers since being traded to the team in August. Willis finished the game with a 126.8 passer rating, but Green Bay relied heavily on its running game, which was much more successful in the first half against the Colts than in the second half.

Ian Rapoport, Pelissero's colleague at NFL Network, reported that Love — who has had limited practice all week — will likely need at least another week of rest for his knee to be ready to play. On Friday, Rapoport also shared that Love's MCL injury is a “Grade 1/2” tear, meaning just over 10 percent of the fibers in his knee are torn.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur stated last week that Love doesn't need to practice to play in a game. He also mentioned this week that they will put Love's knee on ice until they have to announce his gameday inactivity, which will happen within 90 minutes of kickoff, before they officially rule him out against Tennessee. For now, though, it appears Willis will start for Green Bay.

The Packers also elevated quarterback Sean Clifford from the practice squad to the game-day roster on Saturday, which would give Willis a backup quarterback if Love is out. It's another sign that the team is considering starting Willis on Sunday.
