Update on the Pikes Peak Marathon: “Everything is ready for the start at 7 a.m.”

(COLORADO SPRINGS) – The Pikes Peak Marathon and Ascent announced Friday evening, September 20, that no changes to the event are planned due to impending weather conditions and the marathon is scheduled to begin on time.

Many were waiting for the official update as weather forecasters predicted several inches of snow on Pikes Peak and a cold and rainy weekend that could mar the race. However, marathon organizers announced on Facebook around 7:30 p.m. that they were all ready to start at 7 a.m.

The goal is a soaker on Saturday

“Make sure you have your gear – waterproof jackets with hoods are a must,” Pikes Peak Marathon and Ascent wrote on Facebook. “The NWS is predicting precipitation. Be safe and pack extra layers in your sweat bags.”

Organizers added that they will continue to monitor the weather for the marathon and will provide further updates on Saturday evening, September 21.
