MANILA, Philippines – George King scored 49 points to lead the Blackwater Bossing to a 111-94 victory over the import-less San Miguel Beermen on Saturday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila, keeping alive their chance of advancing to the quarterfinals of the PBA Governors' Cup.

King scored 49 points on 14 of 29 shooting, along with 11 rebounds and four assists, helping Bossing move into a tie with NLEX in the standings.

Blackwater led by four points, 68-72, in the third quarter after a jump shot by Terrence Romeo.

King then scored nine points and capped it off with a four-pointer, giving Bossing an 81-69 lead with 1:40 left in the period and completely deciding the game.

A deuce by Jericho Cruz at 10:26 of the fourth inning cut San Miguel's deficit to 10:77-87. But Bossing ignited another 12-0 run, capped by a layup by King, to secure an unassailable lead of 99-77.

“We want to stay in the race tonight and that’s what happened,” Cariaso said after the game.

“We're just going to pray that what's meant to happen happens. We're just going to do our job and prepare for Monday's game against Rain or Shine because that's the only thing we can control,” he added.

Sedrick Barefield finished with 14 points, five assists and two rebounds. Justin Chua added nine for Blackwater.

June Mar Fajardo was the best player for the Beermen without Jordan Adams with 23 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. CJ Perez secured the game with 21 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

NLEX will face Barangay Ginebra for the all-important last quarterfinal spot on Sunday at the Big Dome.

Blackwater, on the other hand, must win against Rain or Shine on Monday to have a chance of making the playoffs.
