Cris Collinsworth's alleged contract extension is bad news for Greg Olsen fans

1. Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reported Thursday that NBC is expected to sign Football on Sunday evening Analyst Cris Collinsworth on a contract extension through the 2029-30 season.

The most important finding is that it has just become much more difficult for Greg Olsen, who is extremely popular with critics and fans, to land the job as a top analyst in the NFL.

This is the current status of senior analyst positions in the networks:

And of course there's Fox, where Olsen served as chief analyst for two seasons before Tom Brady took over this season. Brady has a 10-year contract for the job.

Olsen wants the No. 1 pick. Olsen deserves the No. 1 pick. Fans would benefit if Olsen was the No. 1 pick because he's so good. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Olsen will get the No. 1 pick for long unless something shocking happens.

2. The No Fun League somehow fined Saints quarterback Derek Carr $14,000 for performing a Michael Jackson celebration during New Orleans' stunning win over Dallas.

Meanwhile, the NFL's official Twitter account had no problem tweeting the video of Carr's celebration on Sunday.

3. That was a really good contribution from Miami Marlins manager Skip Schumaker in the midst of Shohei Ohtani's historic day on Thursday.

In the seventh inning, with runners on second and third base, first base vacant, and Ohtani coming up to bat with 49 home runs, someone in Miami's dugout must have asked Schumaker if the Marlins were planning to intentionally walk Ohtani.

You didn't have to be a good lip reader to understand Schumaker's “Fuck it” response.

“Screw it” was the right answer, because it would have been absurd to intentionally force Ohtani to leave in an 11-3 game.

After the game in which Ohtani made history by becoming the first MLB player to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a season, Schumaker further explained why putting the Dodgers' DH on the field wasn't an option for the Marlins.

5. Caitlin Clark now holds the WNBA's all-time single-game attendance record.

The Fever-Mystics game on Thursday at Capital One Arena in DC drew 20,711 fans.
