Suspect in recent Playa del Carmen hotel murder extradited from Yucatan

Playa del Carmen, QR — The main suspect in a recent murder case at a Playa del Carmen hotel was arrested in Yucatan. Agents of the State Investigative Police (PEI) of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) and ministerial officials of the Attorney General's Office (FGE) made the arrest on Saturday.

According to the SSP Yucatan, Alfonso EV's arrest was carried out in collaboration with colleagues from the FGE. He was taken into custody “because he is accused of aggravated manslaughter in Playa del Carmen.”

In their official statement, SSP Yucatan said: “Alfonso EV, alias “Diantre”, 26 years old, originally from Villahermosa, Tabasco and a truck driver by profession, is accused of killing Jorge Enrique UL on the 13th of this month in a hotel room in Playa del Carmen.

“According to the investigation, this man hit his victim with a blunt object on the floor of the room where they were drinking alcoholic beverages.”

Authorities said they tracked down Alfonso EV in the neighboring state of Yucatan, where he is accused of “attempting to evade justice in Quintana Roo by seeking refuge in Yucatan.”

He was tracked down and arrested by local authorities in Yucatan and handed over to the FGE of Quintana Roo on Saturday. On September 13, a hotel guest was found covered in blood in a room in Playa del Carmen. The man, a Mexican citizen, was in the hotel at the time of his murder, attending an event.
