CHP responds to two fatal incidents in North State Saturday night | News

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to two fatal incidents Friday evening. One occurred in Tehama County and the other in Shasta County.

Action News Now confirmed Sunday morning that a person jumped from an Interstate 5 overpass near Antelope Blvd. in Red Bluff around 8 p.m. Saturday night and died from their injuries.

According to CHP Sergeant Spencer Brann, the person was struck by a vehicle after jumping from the overpass.

According to Sergeant Brann, an on-ramp was closed during the emergency. One lane of Interstate 5 was closed “briefly” during the incident.

The identity of the deceased person has not yet been determined but will be disclosed once next of kin have been notified.

The fatal crash in Shasta County occurred near Round Mountain at the corner of Terry Mill Rd. and Patterson Rd. This crash also occurred Saturday evening. The CHP was notified of the incident at 8:12 p.m.

Not many details are available about this crash at this time, but Action News Now has been informed by the CHP that the identity of the deceased person will be released to the public after next of kin are notified.
