At least 5 people injured in pile-up on I-70 in Washington County – WPXI

SOUTH STRABANE, Pa. – A portion of I-70 in Washington County is closed while emergency crews respond to a crash that left several people injured.

PennDOT Map 511 shows I-70 westbound closed between Exit 21 for I-79 South – Morgantown and Exit 20 for PA 136 – Beau Street due to a multi-vehicle crash.

A Washington County 911 dispatcher told Channel 11 that police, fire and emergency medical services were called to the scene of the accident around 1:50 p.m. Sunday.

South Strabane Fire Service says there are multiple patients and trapped people.

The dispatcher says at least five people have been taken to area hospitals. Their condition is currently unknown.

The accident is affecting traffic on I-79 and I-70. Firefighters are asking the public to avoid the area and use alternate routes if possible.
