Hamidreza Shirzadi was arrested to serve his prison sentence

Hamidreza Shirzadi, a man from the Lurish Bakhtiari family living in Dezpart County, Khuzestan Province, was arrested and transferred to Ramhormoz Central Prison to serve his one-year prison sentence.

According to a report obtained by the human rights organization Hengaw, Hamidreza Shirzadi, a 22-year-old resident of the village of “Mozarem” in Dezpart district of Khuzestan, was summoned to the Izeh district enforcement office on Sunday, September 15, 2024, where he was arrested and transferred to Ramhormoz Central Prison to serve his one-year sentence.

On Sunday, July 21, 2024, Hamidreza Shirzadi was sentenced to one year in prison by Branch 103 of Izeh Criminal Court 2, presided over by Judge Mostafa Alikhani Faradonbeh, for “insulting religious sanctities” based on posts he published on Instagram.

According to informed sources, another part of his case, which involves charges of “propaganda against the regime,” “disturbing public order” and “insulting Khamenei,” has been referred to Branch 4 of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Court in Ahvaz.

It should be noted that Hamidreza Shirzadi was already arrested by Iranian security forces on September 23, 2023 and released on bail at the end of February of the same year.

It is also worth mentioning that Hamidreza Shirzadi was also arrested at the end of September 2022 during the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement, but was eventually pardoned and his case closed.
