Houston shooting: Man dies in police-involved shooting while HPD officers investigate another incident

An investigation is ongoing following a police-involved shooting in Houston early Sunday morning.

Officials said the shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the 3100 block of Corksie.

According to police, the incident began when Southeast Division officers responding to another call heard gunshots in the area.

Officers then radioed the firearms report and went to the area to ensure public safety.

When officers arrived, they found a vehicle with a broken window and a man nearby.

During questioning, the man showed a gun and shot at the officers.

According to authorities, two officers fired their weapons, hit the suspect and then administered first aid.

The man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

While searching the area, officers say they found another man with gunshot wounds a few houses away from the crime scene and began to administer first aid. However, this man was also pronounced dead at the scene.

The connection between the shootings remains under investigation.

Both officers involved in the shooting have been stationed in the Southeast Division for four years and will be placed on leave in accordance with regulations.

The suspect in the police-involved shooting and the victim later found were described as black men. No further details were released.

The Houston Police Department's Homicide Unit, Crime Scene Unit, Investigation Division and District Attorney's Office are conducting an investigation.
